Paris fallout: Security checks at Mumbai airport to take more time
Sources from Mumbai airport said that they have asked security personnel to beef up checking, inspect luggage carefully and augment personal profiling of passengers based on their behaviour
After the Paris terror attacks, the time taken for security checks at the international terminal of the Mumbai airport has gone up. Sources from the airport said that they have asked the security personnel to beef up checking, inspect luggage carefully and augment personal profiling of passengers based on their behaviour.
The private security-handling agency operated by Mumbai International Airport Private Ltd has been on frequent rounds at the city side of the international terminal. A top official from the city airport said, “During such situations, all the security agencies are asked to increase the frequencies of random checks that are conducted on the basis of profiling.”
A private security official at the airport said, “The officials in and around the airport intensify the process of observing passengers, and if any suspicion is noticed through the body language of a passenger then he is not only asked to stop but, is also asked to get his baggage checked again. Hence, passengers can expect an extra delay of around 20 minutes than the routine time taken before boarding the flight.”
‘Reach before time’
“Both the domestic and international terminal passengers should, as a precautionary measure, reach well before time in order to avoid any kind of delay in their boarding process,” said Hemendra Singh, PRO, Central Industrial Security Force. (CISF).
