Police suspect the two brothers accidentally locked themselves up in a parked car while playing inside
A simple game of hide-and-seek, hopping in and out of a parked vehicle proved fatal for two brothers in Badlapur. The boys Ravishankar Jaiswal (8), and Shivshankar Jaiswal (10) had entered a parked car while playing close to their house in MHADA Colony, Badlapur, and were accidentally trapped inside. Unable to open the door of the vehicle, the boys suffocated to death.

According to the police, the boys had been missing for over 24 hours after which their father Raviprasad Jaiswal registered a missing person complaint. The father revealed in the complaint that the boys had gone out to play in the evening and had failed to return home. “We had registered a missing persons complaint on Tuesday and also informed nearby police stations about it,” said Vijay Bagal, senior police inspector at Badlapur police station.
The bodies of Ravi and Shiv were discovered yesterday, when a boy who had gone to fetch a cricket ball near the car, spotted them in the parked car. “Some boys were playing cricket near the car. When one of the boys went to pick up the ball, he found the brothers in the car with blood stained mouths. The boy informed the deceased’s parents following which the police were called,” said Sunil Bhitre, a local resident.
According to Bhitre, there were nail marks on the car’s glass, which indicates that the trapped boys had made attempts to open the vehicle’s door. “The boys were dead when we found them and took them to Ulhasnagar Civil Hospital for a post-mortem. Preliminary autopsy reports as revealed by doctors indicate that they died due to suffocation. We believe that they might have got locked in the car. Their bodies had turned black and blue,” said Bagal.
“My kids had gone to play as usual and my wife was taking care of our one-year-old son. However, when they didn’t return home, we started looking for them after which we informed the police,” said Raviprasad Jaiswal, father of the deceased who works at APMC market, Vashi. Ratnakar Lokhande who is the owner of the Maruti Zen car forgot to lock it on Tuesday, said the police.u00a0
