Supreme Court today dismissed rape charges that were leveled against filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar in 2009 by a woman named Preeti Jain.

The Supreme Court today dismissed rape charges against Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar.

The court had stayed criminal proceedings against the filmmaker in April this year.

In 2009, a woman named Preeti Jain had accused Bhandarkar of raping her on the promise of giving her a film role.

She had alleged that they had "had sex 16 times between 1999 and 2004".

Bhandarkar is the director of critically acclaimed films like Chandni Bar, Page 3 and Fashion among others.u00a0 u00a0u00a0
