In a chilling reminder of the Keenan Santos and Reuben Fernandes murders, a local Shiv Sena leader from Malad was stabbed to death with sharp weapons in his own home, allegedly after he protested and spoke up against four goons who would regularly molest women in the area.

The Sena man died on the spot. A case has been registered with Dindoshi police. According to the police, the deceased, Ramesh Jadhav, owned an imitation jewellery business and was a resident of Gangaram Chawl at Kot Dongri, Malad (East).

Police said one of the accused was identified as Gullu Ali Sajida, the father of the 15-year-old boy who slashed his friend’s neck in an English-medium school based in Malad, in July. The other two were identified as Yusuf Sajida and Sohil Ansari, and one is yet to be identified.

Local sources said Jadhav used to resist and act against the accused, who allegedly molested the women in the area. Anil Alkunte, another local Sena leader, said, “The accused would always molest girls in our area and Jadhav would fight against these acts and put up a resistance. He was killed for this.”

According to the police, the incident occurred yesterday around 6 pm when Jadhav was alone at home. The four accused forcibly entered Jadhav’s house and attacked him with sharp weapons. They fled from the spot thereafter. All the four are absconding after the incident.

In October 2011, two young men, Keenan Santos and Reuben Fernandes, had been killed after they put up a fight against goons who had made indecent gestures against one of their female friends outside an Andheri restaurant.
