According to a close associate of Indrani, who didn’t wish to be named, “Indrani was not aware that Peter had been arrested on Thursday evening. She got to know on Friday. She couldn’t control herself.” Indrani told the associate she was “shocked”.
Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver, Shyamvar Rai, were produced in court on Friday. The case was committed to the Sessions Court where it will be heard on December 3. The chargesheet that was filed on Thursday at the CBI Magistrate Court runs into over 4,000 pages and lists 194 witnesses.
Speaking to SUNDAY mid-day, Khanna’s lawyer Shreyansh Mithare said, “We will go through the chargesheet before taking a decision on filing for bail.” An advocate from the chamber, who is representing Indrani, said, “We may cite the issue of her health as our main ground when we file for bail.”
