Interview with Tina Singh Walia: Empowering Confidence Through Image and Inner Work

Tina Singh

Tina Singh Walia is an internationally certified image coach, ICF-certified wellness coach, and Master NLP practitioner with over 27 years in fashion and + years in coaching. From battling body image issues in her youth to becoming a successful model and entrepreneur, Tina’s journey is one of resilience and reinvention. She now empowers individuals and corporate professionals through holistic coaching that blends style, communication, body language, and mindset. Having transformed thousands of lives, Tina believes confidence begins within and champions authenticity in every sphere. Roopali Pasricha Bhasin learns her story that inspires others to evolve, thrive, and present their best selves-inside and out.

Q: Tina, your journey has inspired thousands. Can you share what first drew you into the world of image consulting?

Tina Walia: Absolutely. My journey started from a very personal space. I struggled with PCOS, severe acne, and low self-esteem in my late teens. I gained over 14 kilos during my board exams and faced bullying, which deeply affected how I viewed myself. But I was also academically driven-I topped my college in Economics. It was only later, in my late 30s, that I decided to formally pursue image consulting. I wanted to help others reclaim their confidence, just like I did.

Q: That’s incredibly powerful. What does “image consulting” really mean beyond just fashion?

Tina Walia: Image consulting is much more than clothes. It’s about aligning your outer image with your inner values and goals. It includes non-verbal communication, etiquette, grooming, personal branding, and even posture. Whether you’re entering a boardroom or a social setting, your image tells your story before you say a word. My goal is to make that story empowering and authentic.

Q: You’ve worked with many top corporates. How does image affect professional success?

Tina Walia: Profoundly. First impressions are often visual. I’ve coached executives at Kotak Life, IndiGo, HP Petroleum, and more. Whether it’s leadership presence, dressing for influence, or refining communication, a well-managed image builds trust, credibility, and likeability. Especially for women, it can be a game-changer in male-dominated industries.

Q: You’re also a certified wellness coach and NLP practitioner. How do those skills support your work?

Tina Walia: They’re essential. Confidence doesn’t come from clothes alone-it comes from within. NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) helps shift limiting beliefs. Wellness coaching supports balance and mental clarity. I work with clients to build confidence holistically, from body language to mindset. That’s what makes the transformation lasting.

Q: Social media puts immense pressure on people’s self-image. What advice do you have?

Tina Walia: Social media is a highlight reel, not real life. Stop comparing. Focus on becoming the best version of you, not someone else. Work on small habits-good grooming, better posture, authentic self-expression. When you invest in yourself, you begin to glow from within, and that’s something no filter can replicate.

Q: Any advice for those looking to reinvent themselves, especially later in life?

Tina Walia: It’s never too late. I started a new career at 39, and I’ve never looked back. Reinvention is a strength. Start small. Learn a new skill, take better care of your body, show up differently. Your confidence grows with every small win.

Q: What’s next for you?

Tina Walia: I’m working on expanding my coaching programs, both online and offline. I also want to create more workshops tailored to young professionals and women re-entering the workforce. Empowering people to feel seen, heard, and confident-that remains my mission.

Tina Walia is proof that image, when aligned with intention, can be a powerful catalyst for change. Her story reminds us that transformation is always possible-and it begins with self-belief.
