Payal Kapadia and the cast of her film, 'All We Imagine As Light', walked the red carpet at the ongoing  2024 Cannes Film Festival. It was Kani Kusruti, who plays Prabha in the film, who caught netizens' attention. The actress walked the red carpet in a stunning white dress with a watermelon-shaped handbag. Notably, the watermelon emoji is the international symbol of solidarity with Palestinians.

As the actress showed solidarity with Palestinians on a global platform, she is receiving applause from around the world, and netizens have been praising her since her look debuted. One user wrote, "Not only did 'All We Imagine As Light' – the first Indian film to compete at Cannes in three years – get a massive standing ovation, but actor Kani Kusruti also decided to use her moment to show clear solidarity for Palestine."

"India has a spine. Look at Kani Kusruti being so brave in front of the world, standing up for Palestine. A talent powerhouse in her performances. Malayalam cinema might save us all the blushes. Cannes," wrote another user.

'All We Imagine...' is the first Indian movie in 30 years to qualify for the festival's competition section, making Kapadia a contender for the prestigious Palme d'Or. The eight-minute standing ovation at the end of the film's screening was among the longest of this edition of the film festival.

The team of the film, including Chhaya Kadam, Hridhu Haroon, Kani Kusruti, Payal Kapadia, Divya Prabha, Ranabir Das, Julien Graff, Zico Maitra, and Thomas Hakim, walked the red carpet in stunning outfits. However, it was the team dancing and enjoying their big moment that won hearts. The team left quite an impression on international critics at its world premiere at Cannes on Thursday night.
