Mindy Kaling made a grand entrance at this year's MET Gala in a stunning outfit designed by Gaurav Gupta. Known for her role in 'The Office' and being behind 'Never Have I Ever,' Kaling is a familiar face at the MET Gala, and this time she turned heads in Gupta's distinctive style.

At the MET Gala 2024, Mindy Kaling dazzled in a stunning champagne-colored gown with architectural flair, crafted by Gaurav Gupta. Opting for a more understated makeup look, she complemented her ensemble with a sleek, wavy bob hairstyle. Interestingly, Mindy's outfit bore a striking resemblance to a dress worn by Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at Cannes in 2022.

Couturier Gaurav Gupta expressed his views on the creation and said, "Mindy radiates grace, making her the ideal muse for this design. Just as a flower blooms only once before withering away, this gown embodies the transient yet exquisite essence of style. It's almost like the gown Mindy is wearing melts away in time, evoking a surreal journey through loops of infinity, as represented by our brand logo.”

Aishwarya wore Gaurav's custom-made queen pink sculpted creation on the third day of the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. The ensemble featured silver-embellished pleated details, a trailing bottom and a shell-like structure behind shoulders, symbolising Venus' rise from the scalloped shell.

While some netizens claimed 'Mindy won the night'. There were a few who talked about was uncanny resemblance to  Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Cannes 2022 look. Namely, anonymous online fashion critic DietSabya. Who also dropped a post on Instagram, sharing how Mindy's Met Gala look is similar to Aishwarya's Cannes look.

About MET Gala 2024

This year's Met Gala dress code, "The Garden of Time," takes its cue from the 1962 short story of the same name by J.G. Ballard, which dovetails nicely with the latest Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, which opens to the public on Friday, May 10, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
