At the Met Gala 2026, Jaipur’s royal siblings, Gauravi Kumari and Sawai Padmanabh Singh, brought Indian heritage to the global stage with a powerful display of legacy and craftsmanship. Making her debut, Gauravi Kumari delivered a deeply personal and fashion forward moment by reimagining a treasured heirloom from her grandmother, Maharani Gayatri Devi.
Honouring Gayatri Devi's legacy
For the prestigious event, she chose a vintage pink chiffon saree from her grandmother’s collection, a fabric and style long associated with Gayatri Devi’s timeless elegance. Instead of wearing it traditionally, the saree was transformed into a contemporary gown by designer Prabal Gurung. The redesign preserved the softness and fluidity of chiffon while sculpting it into a silhouette that felt modern yet rooted in history. The gentle pink hue, accented with subtle sequins, reflected Jaipur’s identity as the Pink City and added emotional depth to the ensemble.
