Goldy Dhillon of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has allegedly claimed responsibility for the second shooting at Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Café in Surrey, Canada, via a Facebook post warning the comedian of further action in Mumbai if he doesn’t respond to their calls
Kapil Sharma, Lawrence Bishnoi
Goldy Dhillon of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has allegedly claimed responsibility for the shooting at comedian Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, Canada. A Facebook post has surfaced on social media in which Dhillon is seen admitting the gang’s role behind attacks at Kapil Sharma’s cafe and sending a stern warning to the comedian.
The post read, "JAI SHRI RAM, Satshriakal ram sare bhaiyo ko aj jo y kapil sharma k kaps cafe.. Surrey m firing hui iski jimevari, Goldy dhillon, Lawrence bishnoi gang lete h isko hamne call ki thi isko ring nhi Sunai di to karwai krni pdi ab b ring n sunegi to next karwai jaldi hi Mumbai krege"(sic).
This approximately translates to "We accept responsibility for the firing in Surrey." We called him, but he did not answer, so we had to take action. If he still does not hear the ring, the next action will take place in Mumbai," according to the alleged post.
However, the Mumbai police are still verifying the validity of the Facebook post.
What had happened at the Kap's Cafe?
Shots were fired at comedian and actor Kapil Sharma's cafe in Canada on Thursday morning, marking the second such incident in a month. Kap's Café, in Surrey, British Columbia, is owned by comedian Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath. A reported video of the attack appeared on social media, with at least 25 gunshots being heard.
The coffeehouse was subjected to a similar incident on July 10, which investigators suspect was carried out by the Laddi gang, which is linked to the outlawed Khalistani terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
The Mayor visited Kapil's cafe in Surrey
Last week, Kapil Sharma and his wife, Ginni, released a video of officials visiting his café while they ate peacefully. However, what drew everyone's attention was the post's caption, in which Kapil stated clearly that they oppose all forms of violence.
“Thank you, Mayor Brenda Locke, @surreypoliceservice and all the officials who visited @thekapscafe_ to show their love and support. United we stand against violence. We’re truly grateful," the comedian wrote.
Kapil's team had recently reopened the cafe, and they had just begun their social media promotions after the incident, and yet again firing happened.
