Madhur Bhandarkar's leading lady in 'Calendar Girls' is apparently an actress from the South film industry, Akanksha Puri

Madhur Bhandarkar has been trying to maintain secrecy about the leading ladies in his upcoming film, Calendar Girls; so much so that no cameras are allowed on the film’s sets.

But now it has emerged that one of his actresses is Akanksha Puri, who has shot for films down South. Puri has done films opposite big stars like Mammootty and her projects include Alex Pandian (2013), Praise the Lord (2014) and Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander (2014), though most of them didn’t do well at the box office.
A source close to the project says, “Yes, Akanksha Puri is part of the film. She has done some films in the South film industry and is making her Bollywood debut with Calendar Girls.”
Interestingly, there have been reports that Madhur has auditioned a lot of girls and has chosen five fresh faces but with this actress on board, it’s seems that not all leading ladies from Calendar Girls are his discoveries.
The film is said to revolve around the lives of models who gain popularity after featuring in famous calendars. The film will apparently also feature a character based on industrialist and liquor baron Vijay Mallya.
