With Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 wrapped up, Bazmee glad that team has pursued a theatrical run for the movie

Anees Bazmee can heave a sigh of relief. His horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, starring Kartik Aaryan, Tabu and Kiara Advani, finally reached the finish line last week after a final 45-day schedule. “On the last day of the shoot, we filmed a scene with Tabu, Rajesh Sharma and Milind Gunaji, before packing up at 4 am,” says Bazmee.

The past one-and-a-half years have been difficult for the filmmaker, who had to keep deferring the shoot due to the pandemic. “Some even speculated that the film has been shelved,” says Bazmee. He credits his team, particularly the leading man, for seeing the project to completion. “During the climax shoot, Kartik wanted to leave by eight as he had to travel to Panchgani for the shoot of Freddy. When we finally packed up at 5 am, he reminded me of his request, [which was not met]. I joked that he hadn’t mentioned whether he wanted to leave at eight in the morning or at night. He is so nice that he didn’t grumble at all; instead, he burst out laughing.”
The sequel to Akshay Kumar’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) is slated to hit the theatres in March 2022. The director is certain of not taking the digital route, as he says, “I am grateful to producers Murad Khetani and Bhushan Kumar for standing by me. They were getting lucrative offers from OTT platforms. But we had decided that the film will head to theatres only. I would have directed it differently if it was a web film.”
