Chandrachur Singh, who was seen sharing screens with actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai in Josh, has made headlines due to an alleged legal battle involving his ancestral property. The actor, who was also seen with Sushmita Sen in the highly acclaimed series Aarya, was recently seen in Aligarh in connection with a dispute regarding his family haveli and related assets.

Chandrachur Singh's ancestral property dispute


The actor has alleged that his own family members tried to illegally take possession of the ancestral assets. Notably, Chandrachur's brother, Abhimanyu Singh, is a film producer. The Josh actor stated that he spent his childhood in Aligarh, where his entire family lived together at the time. However, following his uncle's death, he claims that a conspiracy is now being plotted to sell off their ancestral haveli.



On Wednesday, December 3, Chandrachur, along with his mother, was seen visiting the District Magistrate’s office, wherein he met DM Sanjeev Ranjan and submitted detailed information regarding the property dispute. According to PTI, Chandrachur claimed that certain family members are attempting to unlawfully take possession of the ancestral property. Accordingly, the actor has requested official action to prevent illegal encroachment.

About Chandrachur Singh

For the unversed, Chandrachur Singh is the son of Baldev Singh, a former MLA from Khair, a town in Aligarh. On the other hand, his mother, Krishna Kumari Devi, belongs to the royal family of the princely state of Patna in present-day Odisha. His family mansion, known as The Haveli Jalalpur Estate 1855, also called Kalyan Bhavan, is said to be valued at crores of rupees.

Chandrachur Singh gained prominence and fame in the 1990s. He is known for acting alongside top stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Tabu. 

Talking of his upcoming projects, he is set to star next Bayaan, also starring Huma Quershi and Sachin Khedekar, among others. The film was selected in the Discovery section of the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival recently. He also played a pivotal role in Sushmita Sen's web series Aarya. An official release date for the theatrical release of the film is yet to be announced.
