Indian rapper and singer Karan Aujla had placed a bet of CA$500,000 (Rs 3,11,15,000) on Preity Zinta's team, Punjab Kings, ahead of the IPL 2025 final in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. The Tauba Tauba singer revealed this through his Instagram stories. However, Royal Challengers Bengaluru's victory over PBKS to clinch the trophy cost Aujla over Rs 3 crore.

Karan loses Rs 3 crore

On Tuesday, RCB defeated PBKS by 6 runs to clinch their maiden IPL title. Reportedly, millions of dollars’ worth of bets were placed on the final — including wagers on the winning team, best player, most runs scored, and even the outcome of individual deliveries.

With Punjab being on the losing side, Karan lost Rs 3 crore on the bet he had placed. If the team had won, he stood the chance of earning nearly Rs 6 crore.

Drake wins big

Meanwhile, Canadian rapper Drake had placed his bets on RCB. The rapper staked $750,000 on RCB winning the final. The betting slip revealed that with odds of 1.75, Drake stood to win $1.312 million if Virat Kohli’s side defeated PBKS. Sharing the screenshot, Drake captioned it with the iconic line: “Ee sala cup namde.” With RCB's victory, Drake has won over Rs 11 crore.

About the IPL 2025 final match

Royal Challengers Bengaluru claimed their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title, ending an 18-year wait with a sensational six-run win over Punjab Kings in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday.

RCB were restricted to 190/9 in 20 overs by a fine bowling performance led by Arshdeep Singh (3/40) and Kyle Jamieson (3/38). However, the Rajat Patidar-led side bounced back strongly with a mesmerizing bowling display of their own, limiting Punjab Kings to 184/7 in 20 overs.

Krunal Pandya claimed 2/17 in four overs to turn things around for RCB. For PBKS, Shashank Singh led a late charge with a flurry of boundaries, ending with a majestic unbeaten 61 off 30 balls — but it was too little, too late, and they fell short by six runs.

With this, RCB ended an 18-year wait for the title — their first under captain Rajat Patidar. The victory also made Virat Kohli the first player to win the IPL title after representing the same team for 18 consecutive seasons.

Brief scores:

Royal Challengers Bengaluru — 190/9 in 20 overs (Virat Kohli 43, Rajat Patidar 26, Jitesh Sharma 24; Arshdeep Singh 3/40, Kyle Jamieson 3/48)
Punjab Kings — 184/7 in 20 overs (Josh Inglis 39, Shashank Singh 61*; Krunal Pandya 2/17, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 2/38).
