Seeking inspiration from Utagawa Kuniyoshi, master of the Japanese wooden block printing art form Ukiyo-e. u00a0 <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2010/mar/Basu.jpg" border="5" /> Nandita Basu At: 5.40 pm Ukiyo-e (Pictures of the floating world) strived to translate its "comprehensive and absolute" nature on the tailored clothes. u00a0 Chic western wear valiantly fell prey to traditional warrior geisha and satirical prints, soaked in the night palette of dark chocolate, maroon, olive green, khaki and navy blue. u00a0 Royal capes, jackets, pencil skirts and sheath dresses teamed with fitted trousers and tops skirting the navel, had the benefit of Nandita's decade-long fashion experience. Surface textures interjected between sequins, embroidery and digital prints, with leather swatches making constant appearances. This is a collection that will sell on the merit of impeccable tailoring and kitsch prints.
