Coinciding with the recent release of Sholay 3D, the movie that made her late father Mac Mohan popularly known as Samba, writer-director Manjari Makijany is ready with her own film.

Manjari has just completed The Corner Table that stars veteran actor Tom Alter and telly actress Pushtiie Shakti, besides her sister Vinati Makijany.

Says Manjari, &ldquo;After Tom Alter said yes to the film, we put everything else in place. It is God&rsquo;s grace that everyone I wanted to rope in became a part of the film including music composers Salim and Sulaiman.&rdquo; The film, about a waitress and a regular customer, has been shot at a cafe in Kala Ghoda and will soon doing the rounds of international film festivals.
Mac Mohan passed away in 2010. &ldquo;Papa was extremely encouraging. I had made up my mind that I want to direct and he would provide me with tips,&rdquo; says Manjari, who has worked as an assistant for films like Wake Up Sid and 7 Khoon Maaf as well as on some Hollywood projects that were shot in India. &ldquo;My father had started a production house, so I am making the films under his banner,&rdquo; she adds.
Manjari had earlier made the short film, The Last Marble, about a street child that fetched her honours on the international film festivals circuit. Directing Bollywood films is next on her agenda.
Incidentally, actress Raveena Tandon is Manjiri&rsquo;s cousin. Mac Mohan is Raveena&rsquo;s mother, Veena&rsquo;s brother.
