I know how difficult it is to let go of a loved one who is terminally ill. In that respect, I wouldn't blame Sara Fitzgerald (Diaz) for choosing to 'genetically engineer' a child who would help keep her 'sissy' alive. What they don't count on her doing, is discovering a mind of her own and suing her parents for 'rights to my own body'.

The film, based on a Jodi Picoult novel, does a smashing job of bringing forth the family's turmoil and Sofia (as Kate) and Abigail (as Anna) excel. While the acting is top-notch, this tearjerker is depressing fare; especially if you've made a real-life connect.

The leisurely paced flick isn't for everyone and is best meant for discerning audiences, who don't really mind their mood take in that sinking feeling.
