Paresh Rawal recently completed four decades in the industry and will be celebrating his birthday on May 30. However, this time, his special day comes while he is in hot water. Rawal has been making headlines for his abrupt exit from Hera Pheri 3, but this isn’t the first time he's grabbed attention due to his actions and controversial statements. Ahead of Paresh Rawal's birthday, here are some moments when he made headlines.

Drinking his own Urine

It was very recently, during an interview with The Lallantop, that he admitted to sipping his own urine like beer. This happened after Paresh injured his leg and was rushed to the hospital. The actor said, “Veeru Devgan came to see me at Nanavati. When I told him about my injury, he said, ‘Drink your own urine first thing in the morning. All fighters do this. You’ll heal faster.’ He also told me to avoid alcohol, tobacco, and mutton, and just stick to regular food.”

Paresh Rawal’s tweet against Arundhati Roy

In 2017, Rawal tweeted about an incident where the Indian Army used a Kashmiri stone pelter as a human shield by tying him to a jeep. At the time, the then-BJP MP controversially suggested that writer Arundhati Roy should have been tied to the vehicle instead. “Instead of tying a stone pelter on the army jeep, tie Arundhati Roy!” he had written. The tweet triggered a wave of backlash for Rawal.

Paresh Rawal on Bengalis

"Gas cylinders are expensive, but their price will come down. People will get employment too. But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi? What will you do with gas cylinders? Cook fish for the Bengalis?" Paresh had said in 2022 while he was campaigning in Gujarat, which again landed him in hot water. Later, in an interview with us at mid-day, Paresh clarified, "It was a slip of the tongue, and what I said was misconstrued."

Paresh Rawal’s rift with Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Paresh Rawal's estranged relationship with Vidhu Vinod Chopra is no hidden fact. Paresh has accused Chopra of ignoring the people he began his career with after achieving success. Rawal also revealed that he was supposed to be part of Munna Bhai but declined the offer due to VVC's arrogant behaviour. “I was supposed to do Munna Bhai. We were discussing remuneration. In my mind, I wanted ₹15 lakh, and coincidentally, Vidhu offered exactly that. But the way he said, ‘I’ll give you ₹15 lakh’, with arrogance, irked me. So, out of principle, I demanded ₹50 lakh and refused to back down,” he revealed.
