Diljit Dosanjh-starrer Satluj has been the talk of the town after it was taken down from the streaming platform Zee5 within just two days of its release. Directed by Honey Trehan, Satluj is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. After over three years of delay in securing a theatrical release, the film was released on Zee5 on Friday. However, just two days later, it was removed from the platform in India. Now, a new report states that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has said that the takedown was because the film's makers released it ‘without the required certification process being completed’.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting claims Satluj violated rules

Earlier titled Panjab 95, the film was submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in 2022. The board reportedly demanded about 27 cuts and a title change. The makers then moved court, following which a revision committee reportedly demanded 120 cuts. Eventually, after years of legal back-and-forth, the film was released on Zee5 as Satluj, uncut.
