The Intern remake: Amitabh Bachchan steps in for Rishi Kapoor

Amitabh Bachchan will star alongside Deepika Padukone in the desi version of the Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway-starrer The Intern (2015). The film, which was announced in January 2020, was to originally feature Rishi Kapoor. After his death, the makers had kept the project on hold. On Monday, Padukone, who is also producing the film with Sunir Khetarpal, shared the news of Big B’s casting.

Sharing the poster on social media, Big B tweeted: "T 3864 - One more time .. Indian Adaptation of #TheIntern. Looking forward to working with @iAmitRSharma @deepikapadukone @warnerbrosindia @SunirKheterpal @AthenaENM @_KaProductions @ChromePictures @DenzD @Sen_Aleya @hemantchrome @gauravbose_TVW."


“What an absolute honour to be collaborating with one of my most special co-stars again,” she wrote. Earlier, the veteran superstar and Dippy were seen together in Shoojit Sircar’s Piku (2015). Badhaai Ho (2018) director Amit Ravindernath Sharma will helm the remake, which revolves around a widower, who interns at a fashion portal and strikes a friendship with the company’s head.
