An angry Vidya Balan has lashed out at those who consume illegal content after her latest film, Tumhari Sulu, was leaked online four days after its release last week. "I have always requested people to not engage in piracy, but, it's really sad that they continue to do it," the actor lamented. While certain portals have got their hands on low resolution copies of the film, others have been illegally selling a high-definition version.

Pointing out to the growth of the digital medium, which now makes films officially available for viewing soon after their theatrical release, Balan says, "Today, films are officially available on various platforms in around two months from their release date. But, it is fun to watch them in theatres. As an artiste, I feel hurt. We put in a lot of hard work [into making a film]. The least that people can do is not support [those who indulge in piracy]. This way, we can stop this illegal practice. It makes me angry."
Given that the film was acclaimed by critics, and has consistently performed well at the box-office, the makers fear that the leak may take a toll on their collections.

Director Suresh Triveni blames viewers for being unwilling to consume good content, despite constantly lamenting about the lack of it in cinema. He adds, "People commit a big crime by watching a [pirated] film. It is an injustice towards the entire film industry. [If they do so] they should not have any expectations from us. It's irresponsible to be party to piracy."
Whether the team decides to file a legal complaint or not is a decision that producer T-Series will arrive at, says co-producer Atul Kasbekar of Ellipsis Entertainment. "Each time we get a notice, we inform T-Series. Their team immediately swings into action. Piracy is a menace. It is irresponsible, illegal and immoral to do it."
