The actress won the coveted Best Actress Award while American born Bruce Dern surprised audiences and critics winning the Best Actor award for his turn in Alexander Payne&rsquo;s Nebraska. The jury prize [Prix du Jury] went to Like Father, Like Son by Kore-eda Hirokazu, which many pundits believed was one of the strongest contenders in the competition slate. The award for Best First Feature [Camera d&rsquo;Or] went to Ilo Ilo directed by Anthony Chen while the Best Screenplay award [Prix du Scenario] went to Jia Zhangke for A Touch Of Sin. Previous winners of the Palme d&rsquo;Or are The Tree of Life Amour, Uncle Boome Who Can Recall his Past Lives, The Class and The White Ribbon. The Cannes Film Festival is known as one of the most prestigious and biggest festivals in the film industry where over 4,000 films are screened in the market and in the official slate.
