Los Angeles: "Carol", a Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara-starrer film, on Thursday bagged a maximum of five nominations for the 73rd Golden Globe Awards. Interestingly, the two leading ladies are competing against each other for the Best Actress trophy.

The contenders in the Best Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy category include "The Big Short", "Joy", "The Martian", "Spy" and "Trainwreck".
Those competing in the Best Performance By An Actress In a Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy category are Jennifer Lawrence ("Joy"), Melissa McCarthy ("Spy"), Amy Schumer ("Trainwreck"), Maggie Smith ("The Lady in the Van") and Lily Tomlin ("Grandma").
The Best Performance By An Actor In a Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy category comprises names like Christian Bale ("The Big Short"), Steve Carell ("The Big Short"), Matt Damon ("The Martian"), Al Pacino ("Danny Collins") and Mark Ruffalo ("Infinitely Polar Bear").
