The long-awaited teaser of Avengers: Doomsday is out, and it has caused quite the stir among Marvel fans and cinema buffs.

It shows X-Men returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the teaser gives a glimpse into James Marsden as Cyclops alongside Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen reprising their iconic roles as Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto.

X-Men and Avengers unite

Marvel is uniting the X-Men and the Avengers on the big screen for the first time. The teaser introduces Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and James Marsden as Cyclops.

The teaser opens with a shot of the abandoned hallways of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, instantly tugging at long-time fans’ hearts. Magneto delivers an ominous voiceover, saying “Death comes for us all. It’s all I know for sure. The question isn’t ‘are you prepared to die?’ The question is ‘who would you be when you close your eyes?’”

The scene shifts to Xavier’s wheelchair and a floating chess piece, an Easter egg recalling the previous film X-Men: The Last Stand.

The next scene shows an emotional reunion between Xavier and Magneto as the frenemies embrace, but it doesn’t stay peaceful for long. The teaser takes a dramatic turn as Cyclops appears, tearing off his vizor and unleashing a massive red optic blast.

The teaser also hints at classic X-Men villains, showing a towering mechanical leg in the distance that fans instantly recognised as a Sentinel.
