New York: Benedict Cumberbatch has revealed that he had almost refused to star in the multiple-award winning hit series 'Sherlock' because he thought it would end up looking 'cheap and cheesy'.

The 37-year-old star said that he believed the iconic detective was one of the most dramatized characters of all time, and when he heard about the new drama, he thought that it was an idea to re-enfranchise something to make money, the New York Post reported.
