Actor Bruce Willis, who was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia earlier, can no longer speak, read or walk, according to reports. Although the family has not given any official update on the 70-year-old's health condition, reports continue to make the rounds
Bruce Willis
Bruce Willis is one of Hollywood’s most loved and iconic stars. However, his illness forced him to retire from acting in 2022. His family announced that he was struggling with serious health issues. Known for roles in Die Hard, The Sixth Sense, and Pulp Fiction, Willis' career was filled with memorable characters, action-packed films, and sharp, witty performances. A year later, in 2023, his family revealed that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a progressive brain disease. According to recent updates, the actor's condition has further deteriorated.
Bruce Willis health update
Some recent reports claim that Bruce Willis can now no longer speak, read, or walk because of the rapid progression of his dementia. As revealed by his family earlier, frontotemporal dementia, sometimes called FTD, is known to affect the brain areas that manage language, movement, and behaviour. As a result, the 70-year-old actor has gradually lost the ability to communicate and even recognise written words.
It must be noted that his family has not yet confirmed the reports of him being unable to read, speak and walk. If it is true, the changes are heartbreaking for his loved ones. Reports suggest that the actor who was once quick with jokes and always on the move is now in a state where he needs constant care. He can no longer hold conversations, enjoy reading, or move independently.
Bruce Willis diagnosis
Back in March 2022, Bruce Willis officially retired from acting after he was diagnosed with aphasia, a condition that is known to affect language and communication. His family revealed that his growing cognitive difficulties were interfering with his work. Later in February 2023, the Willis family issued a more detailed medical update wherein they confirmed that the actor was living with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a neurodegenerative condition which is known to affect behaviour, speech, and eventually motor skills.
The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration revealed that the disease typically affects individuals between ages 45 and 64 and often goes misdiagnosed in its early stages. Willis' diagnosis helped clarify the reasons behind his earlier struggles and provided a basis for continued public interest in his health journey.
