Last year, BTS was announced as the first Asian act to win the IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) is a non-profit organization that represents the recording music industry worldwide. On Thursday, IFPI took to Twitter to announce that BTS had taken the No. 1 spot on their 2021 IFPI Global Artist Chart. The rest of the top 10, include Taylor Swift, Adele, Drake, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber among others.
