Actor Evangeline Lilly recently revealed on social media that she has brain damage after suffering a concussion in 2025 when she fell onto a boulder. The Canadian actor shared a health update on her social media handle and revealed that she is suffering from a traumatic brain injury and that every area of her brain is functioning at a decreased capacity.

The 46-year-old shared a video on Instagram, where she talked about her injury. She said, “It’s late on January 1, the first day of 2026. I am entering into this new year with some bad news about my concussion. A lot of you asked how I am doing, and a lot of you have enquired about the brain scans you heard I got. The results came back from the scan, and almost every area of my brain is functioning at a decreased capacity.”
The actor continued, “So, I do have brain damage from the TBI (traumatic brain injury). Possibly other factors are going on. But now my job is to get to the bottom of that with the doctors and then embark on the hard work of fixing it, which I don’t look forward to because I feel like hard work is all I do. But that’s okay; my cognitive decline since I had my face open has helped me to slow down and helped me to have a restful finish to 2025.”

“I think this was the calmest, most restful Christmas holiday I have had, maybe since I had children, so 14 years ago. So that’s a good thing,” Lilly continued.
“Feeling extraordinarily grateful and blessed to be able to play one more day, one more year on this beautiful living planet,” she said before thanking her followers “for caring.”
Fans and colleagues extend support
Members of the film industry and her fans chimed in in the comments section and wished her a speedy recovery. “You are a warrior,” her Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania co-star Michelle Pfeiffer wrote in the comments, adding a heart emoji. “Nothing—not even this—will defeat you, my friend.”
Lilly previously revealed in a blog post on Substack in May that she had fainted at the beach.
Lilly’s work front
Lilly has been away from acting for the past three years, last appearing in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in 2023. In a statement to Variety in June, she said she is “not actively pursuing any work in the industry” and is instead focusing on humanitarian efforts.
