Harvey Weinstein claimed in a prison interview that Gwyneth Paltrow exaggerated their past interaction and accused her of betraying him by speaking publicly about it. The jailed producer also described being assaulted by another inmate at Rikers Island
Harvey Weinstein and Gwyneth Paltrow
Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who is currently in prison for rape and sexual assault convictions, has spoken about allegations made by actress Gwyneth Paltrow. In an interview from prison with The Hollywood Reporter, Weinstein claimed that the Oscar-winning actress “owes her career” to him and accused her of betraying him.
Harvey Weinstein on Gwyneth Paltrow's claims
Revisiting the claims made by Paltrow, Weinstein alleged that she “stabbed him in the back” by going public about their interactions. He used the interview to address both his history with the actress and the various allegations made against him.
Speaking about the incident, the 73-year-old said, “I don’t know what drove Paltrow to do what she did — to make such a big deal over nothing. I walked out of a nice meeting with her and said, ‘How about a massage?’ And she just went, ‘No, I don’t think so.’ I got the message. I never put my hands on her.”
The producer also recalled a confrontation with Paltrow’s former boyfriend, actor Brad Pitt. “She told Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt came to me and said, ‘Don’t do anything like that with my girl.’ I said, ‘Don’t worry, Brad. I got it.’ But then Gwyneth goes on Howard Stern and The New York Times and makes a big deal about it all. She knows that nothing happened. But this person who was a friend, who owes her career to me, just stabbed me in the back. She wanted to be part of the crowd. I won’t forgive her for that,” he said.
Weinstein on prison condition
In the same interview, Weinstein claimed that he was “punched hard in the face” and left bleeding while incarcerated.
Weinstein is currently being held at Rikers Island while awaiting a retrial on charges related to the alleged rape of an actress at a hotel in Manhattan. He described prison life as isolating and dangerous, saying he spends most of his time confined to his cell with minimal interaction with others.
He said, “One time while I was waiting to use the phone, I asked the guy in front of me if he was done. He got off and punched me hard in the face. I fell on the floor, bleeding everywhere. I was hurt really badly.”
According to Female First UK, Weinstein added that prison officers asked him to identify his attacker, but he refused.
He said, “The cops asked me who had done it, but I couldn't say. You can't be a rat. That's the law of the jungle.”
Weinstein also described conditions inside the facility — often regarded as one of America’s toughest jails — saying the environment was hostile and unsafe. He added that he believes it is dangerous for him to mix with other inmates and that he spends long periods alone in his cell.
