The 33-year-old will play Philippe Pettit, the high-wire artist who successfully walked a tightrope between the Twin Towers in 1974, reports variety.com.
Zemeckis, know for making "To Walk the Clouds", is producing the film and planning to shoot it in 3D. He is also co-writing the script with Christopher Browne.
