Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has been released in India and Tom Cruise has proved that he is here to rule. After a great start on its opening day, the movie has further tightened its grip on Day 2 at the box office. As per the estimates, the final film in the Mission: Impossible franchise starring Tom Cruise has managed to earn an estimated total of Rs 16.5 crore net over the weekend.

Mission: Impossible weekend collection

The film, widely believed to be the final in the Mission: Impossible franchise, has managed to maintain a strong hold at the box office with consistent audience turnout and high occupancy in urban multiplexes. While the prior release Dead Reckoning Part One had collected only Rs 63.5 crore in five days of its release, this one has proved to have a remarkable start with a consistent grip and Rs 30 crore collection in just two days.

Prior to its India release, the Tom Cruise starrer had its grand premiere at the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival on its Day 2. Tom Cruise, along with the other cast members, walked the carpet.

Mission: Impossible receives 5-minute-long standing ovation

On Day 2 of the  Cannes Film Festival, Tom Cruise brought the house down with the premiere of his upcoming action thriller Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, receiving a standing ovation lasting about five minutes. This thunderous response from the viewers left Cruise emotional, as he was seen with watery eyes. Tom Cruise was joined by director Christopher McQuarrie, as well as fellow cast members Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Hannah Waddingham, Angela Bassett, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, and Greg Tarzan Davis on Day 2 of the festival.

According to sources, the CBFC has muted multiple English expletives, including words like “bastards” and “bitch.” A source revealed, “The film was largely approved without visual cuts, but words considered inappropriate for the younger audience were muted or replaced. It’s a standard process for Hollywood tentpole movies aiming for a wider Indian audience.”

The latest instalment follows Cruise's Ethan Hunt as he and his team continue the battle over an advanced artificial intelligence known as the Entity that has the ability to destroy the world if put in the wrong hands or allowed to run amok independently, which was first introduced in 2023's Dead Reckoning.
