London: Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch made a surprise announcement of his engagement to actress and former supermodel Jerry Hall in one of his own newspapers.
The 84-year-old executive chairman of News Corporation revealed he will be marrying the 59-year-old former girlfriend of Mick Jagger in "The Times" classified section.
"Mr Rupert Murdoch, father of Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace and Chloe Murdoch, and Miss Jerry Hall, mother of Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel Jagger, are delighted to announce their engagement," the announcement on the Births, Marriages and Deaths page of the newspaper said.

The couple are believed to have had a whirlwind four-month romance and were seen together most recently at the Golden Globe awards red carpet in Los Angeles.
"They have loved these past months together, are thrilled to be getting married and excited about their future," a spokesperson for the Murdoch family said.
Australian-born Murdoch, who now has US nationality, split with his third wife Wendi Deng in 2013, while Texas-born Hall's 23-year relationship with Rolling Stones frontman Jagger, with whom she had four children, ended in 1999.
The blonde ex-model had married Jagger in an unofficial Hindu ceremony in Bali, but their marriage was declared invalid by the Church of England in 1999.
For the media tycoon, who owns some of the world's major media outlets, this will be his fourth marriage and he has six children from his previous marriages.
He was married to journalist Anna Torv before Deng and his first marriage was to Australian Patricia Booker.
Murdoch and Hall were first spotted together in public in October last year at the Rugby World Cup final in London between Australia and New Zealand. They were introduced to each other in Australia by one of Murdoch's niece Penny Fowler last year.
