Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson have called it quits after more than two years of marriage.

If reports are to be believed, then Scarlett, 26, was the one who initiated the separation.

In a statement, Ryan, 34, and Scarlett said: "After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated," reports the Daily Mail.

The couple got engaged in May 2008 and tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Vancouver, Canada, that September.

The stress of being apart was too much for Scarlett to take, and she ended the marriage two weeks ago. according to Us weekly magazine source.

"They are being very civil about it. The big problem with their relationship is the distance. They spent a lot of time apart when they are working... She's been unhappy for a while," the source said.
