Los Angeles: Singer-songwriter Dan Hicks, known for his blend of folk, jazz and country music, died in Mill Valley, CalifOrnia, after a two-year battle with throat and liver cancer.

Hicks, who was 74, died on Saturday. He is survived by his wife, who made the announcement of his death.
