Hollywood star Sydney Sweeney has responded to the backlash over her bathwater soap collaboration with Dr. Squatch, saying she has no regrets. She also compared it with Jacob Elordi
Sydney Sweeney
Sydney Sweeney was at the center of attention when she launched a new range of bath soap. The unique element of the soap was that it was made with her bathwater. Marketed primarily for men, the product sold out within seconds despite facing heavy criticism online. Months after the launch, Sweeney has finally reacted to the backlash and controversy, making it clear that she has no regrets.
Sydney Sweeney on bathwater soap criticism
In June, the 27-year-old faced criticism for her partnership with Dr. Squatch. The product, officially called Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss, was created using Sweeney's actual bathwater. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, she defended her decision to launch the soap by comparing it to her Euphoria co-star Jacob Elordi. In January 2024, a candle marketed as “Elordi’s Bathwater” became a social media sensation after the release of Saltburn.
Addressing the criticism, Sweeney said, "It was mainly the girls making comments about it, which I thought was really interesting. They all loved the idea of Jacob Elordi’s bathwater. I think it’s important to have a finger on the pulse of what people are saying, because everything is a conversation with the audience."
About the soap launch
The Euphoria star collaborated with Dr. Squatch to create this unusual product. Sydney herself announced it on Instagram and revealed that fans often ask her for her bathwater. "When your fans start asking for your bathwater, you can either ignore it or turn it into a bar of Dr. Squatch soap. It's weird in the best way, and I love that we created something that's not just unforgettable, it actually smells incredible,” Sweeney said in a press release at the time. The soap’s marketing campaign received mixed reactions, with some calling it a gimmick and others questioning its cleanliness.
Sydney Sweeney’s work front
Sydney Sweeney, best known for her role as Cassie Howard in HBO’s Euphoria, also teased that the upcoming third season will be more "unhinged" than ever. In a recent interview with Deadline, she described her character as "crazy" and "flawed on so many levels," while emphasizing that Cassie’s actions always come from a place of love. Season 3 of Euphoria will feature a five-year time jump, taking the characters out of high school for the first time. With new cast members including Sharon Stone, Asante Blackk, and Lucy Punch, fans can look forward to fresh dynamics and storylines.
