In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, she defended her decision to launch the soap by comparing it to her Euphoria co-star Jacob Elordi. In January 2024, a candle marketed as “Elordi’s Bathwater” became a social media sensation after the release of Saltburn.
Addressing the criticism, Sweeney said, "It was mainly the girls making comments about it, which I thought was really interesting. They all loved the idea of Jacob Elordi’s bathwater. I think it’s important to have a finger on the pulse of what people are saying, because everything is a conversation with the audience."

The Euphoria star collaborated with Dr. Squatch to create this unusual product. Sydney herself announced it on Instagram and revealed that fans often ask her for her bathwater. "When your fans start asking for your bathwater, you can either ignore it or turn it into a bar of Dr. Squatch soap. It's weird in the best way, and I love that we created something that's not just unforgettable, it actually smells incredible,” Sweeney said in a press release at the time.
