20th Century Studios has released a new trailer, character posters and stills for the highly anticipated sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2. Almost 20 years after making their iconic turn as Miranda, Andy, Emily and Nigel - Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci return to the fashionable streets of New York City and the sleek offices of Runway Magazine in the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2006 phenomenon that defined a generation.

The trailer opens with Andy, now a senior journalist, joining Runway as the new Features Editor. When she steps into Miranda's office and greets her warmly, her former boss has no recollection of her. Nigel tires to remind Miranda, "She was one of the Emilys" but to no avail.

A montage of glitzy shots from the world of fashion follow before the three of them bump into Emily, prompting her to exclaim, "Am I having a hallucination," while Miranda, with yet no recollection of Andy is incredulous that Emily instantly recognises her.

Towards the end, Emily takes a dig at Andy during a meeting. “You've changed,” she tells Andy, before adding, “you're much more confident. You kept those eyebrows, though, didn't you?” setting the tone for their love-hate relationship.

More about The Devil Wears Prada 2

The first film was based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 bestselling novel of the same name. It tells the story of a young New Yorker Andy (Anne Hathaway), who lands a job at a top fashion magazine under the ruthless editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep).

The Devil Wears Prada 2 has gone into production almost two decades after the original film arrived in theatres.

It reunites the original main cast with director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, and introduces an all-new runway of characters including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak and Conrad Ricamora. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also reprise their roles as “Lily” and “Irv” from the first film.

The sequel will pitch Hathaway's Andy against her former boss, the Runway editor-in-chief, who will struggle with the decline of traditional magazine publishing.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is produced by Wendy Finerman, and executive produced by Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt and Aline Brosh McKenna.

20th Century Studios will release The Devil Wears Prada 2 in cinemas on 1st May 2026.
