Indian actor and comedian Vir Das is once again taking Indian stand-up comedy to the international stage. His Netflix special Vir Das: Fool Volume has been nominated in the Comedy category at the 2026 International Emmy Awards, marking his third nomination at the prestigious global television awards. The nomination was announced on September 23, with Vir Das joining a list of international television creators and performers recognised across 16 categories. The 2026 winners will be announced at a ceremony in New York on November 23.

From nomination to an Emmy win

The latest recognition adds another chapter to Vir Das’ growing International Emmy association. He was first nominated in 2021 for his Netflix special Vir Das: For India, which the International Academy describes as the first stand-up special to receive a nomination.
