This third edition in Marvel's 'Thor' franchise is the breeziest and most entertaining so far - mainly because of its tongue-in-cheek expressiveness and over-stepping irreverence towards mythology.
The mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) begins this enterprise by being imprisoned on the other side of the universe, finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and eventually has to subdue his all-powerful, dark and dangerous sister Hela (Cate Blanchett) who aims to destroy the Asgardian civilization in revenge for her banishment by their father Odin(Anthony Hopkins).

Helmed by Taika Waititi, with powerful visuals emanating from cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe's masterful camerawork, this clash-of-worlds CGI extravaganza about the Norse Legend is far more free-wheeling than the earlier cinematic editions and silly enough to get you smiling with pricey Academy standard entrants like Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum as a campy Dictator and Mark Ruffalo hamming it to the hilt within its vibrantly graphic realm. There's nothing fast and furious here - the unhurried pace allows for Thor to be far more comical, Odin to be less Godlike and all the other characters more loosely defined and therefore makes this almost a kind of spoofy take that amalgamates an Avengers sort-of rapprochement to fire its final salvo. Tom Hiddleston's Loki gets on board with some simmering acerbity on show.

The screenplay by Eric Pearson, Craig Kyle and Christopher L. Yost has little to say and more on display - with Doctor Strange, a fellow Avenger, Thor's fellow prisoner Korg-the stoneman (Waititi himself in motion-capture), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and many more, becoming mini-pivots in its attempt to broad-base this franchise's immediate future. Even Tony Stark gets a shout-out here. This is a well-designed Marvel Universe, crossover franchise, spectacle party, riding high on Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song," that's bound to get everyone who watches it, into a tizzy!
