Actress Winona Ryder has been confirmed to join the third season of Wednesday on Netflix. The actress will be seen reuniting with director Tim Burton on the set of Netflix's Wednesday 3, which is currently under production.

Winona Ryder joins Wednesday 3

A report by Variety confirmed that Ryder would be in season 3 of Wednesday and that she will be reuniting with Burton and Ortega after their collaboration in the musical sequel Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. Notably, the news of Ryder joining the cast comes after reports of Eva Green also joining the cast emerged. Eva will reportedly be portraying Morticia Addams' sister, Ophelia.

Director and executive producer Burton recently released a statement about Ryder's addition to the series. In the statement, he said, "I am so happy that Winona has joined us; she fits right into this world. And she’s a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with her."

Interestingly, this will be Ryder's first major appearance back on Netflix after her role as Joyce Byers ended after a decade in the hit sci-fi series Stranger Things, which concluded at the end of 2025.

Ryder's role in Wednesday 3 has still been kept under wraps. Showrunners and creators Al Gough and Miles Miller, who will also be reuniting with Ryder stated their joy about Ryder joining the cast saying, "When it comes to Outcasts, Winona Ryder is the GOAT. Her legendary partnership with Tim Burton has defined some of cinema’s most unforgettable characters. We loved collaborating with her on ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ and couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her to Nevermore."

The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice reunion

The latest casting paves the way for a spectacular reunion for the newly minted Beetlejuice family. Ryder will be reuniting with her on-screen daughter Jenna Ortega, director Tim Burton, and writers Al Gough and Miles Millar.

Ryder's association with Burton spans decades. They first collaborated on the original 1988 musical Beetlejuice. Additionally, she also worked with him on Edward Scissorhands as well as the animated movie Frankenweenie.

Netflix's horror-comedy series Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, along with Emma Mysters, Hunter Doohan, Billie Piper, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton, with Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joanna Lumley, Fred Armisen, and more in key roles.
