On the same day, an official from her agency, Brand New Music, issued a statement confirming her sudden death. The circumstances surrounding her death have been kept quiet thus far; nevertheless, it is known that a police inquiry is underway.

Lee Min's followers have flocked to online community platforms to grieve the star singer's death, as she does not have an active social media account. Her agency told Maeil Kyungjae via a representative on Wednesday that "Lee Min's husband discovered her when he went home the night before. Police are launching an investigation. We ask that people avoid excessive conjecture until the findings are published."
