Ahead of the March 19 box office clash, the makers of Dacoit are reportedly planning to move its release date to avoid clashing with Toxic and Dhurandhar 2. The Adivi Sesah and Mrunal Thakur starrer could now release in April

March 19, 2025 is turning out to be a fierce battle with multiple big films set to release on the same day. After the makers of Ranveer Singh starrer dropped the teaser of Dhurandhar 2 on Tuesday, the stakes have considerably increased with Yash's Toxic also slated for a roaring release. Amid this, if reports are to be believed, Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur's highly anticipated pan-India action drama Dacoit, which is also planned to release on the same day, could back out of the race.
Dacoit to be postponed?
Dacoit was initially set to release on March 19, 2026, coinciding with the Eid and Gudi Padwa holidays. However, looks like the makers are considering a new release date for the film, consequently avoiding a box office clash with Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar 2 and Yash starrer Toxic.
According to The Hollywood Reporter India, the makers of Dacoit are considering changing the release date to April in order to secure a clearer theatrical window for the film. The makers are reportedly confident about how the movie has shaped up, and thus want a date where it can get maximum visibility and box-office potential. A source reportedly told the portal, “With production wrapping on Tuesday and the final cut shaping up strongly, the team is keen to position the film on a date that allows it maximum visibility and breathing room."
Likewise, according to the report, a new release date for Dacoit is expected to be locked soon.

Dacoit stars Adivi Sesh, Mrunal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap inkey roles, and is being shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. The film also features Prakash Raj, Sunil, Atul Kulkarni, Zayn Marie Khan, and Kamakshi Bhaskarla, along with others. It is helmed by Shaneil Deo, it is produced jointly by Supriya Yarlagadda and Suniel Narang.
Back in December, Adivi Sesh had reacted to Dacoit's clash with Dhurandhar and Toxic. He had said, "I gave this statement in 2022 also. Back then, Major came alongside Kamal Haasan sir's Vikram and Yash Raj Films' Samrat Prithviraj. I faced the same question during that time, and my answer remains the same. There might be many big fish in the sea, but we are the goldfish."
