Actor Janhvi Kapoor was recently seen in Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The film, which marks her second Telugu venture, stars Ram Charan in the lead role and was released in theatres worldwide on June 4. While the film has received mixed reviews, one aspect that has drawn widespread criticism is Kapoor's portrayal of Achiyyamma, the female lead and Ram Charan's love interest.
Several viewers who watched the film on its opening day expressed disappointment over what they described as the hyper-sexualisation of Kapoor's character. Many accused the makers of using the actor primarily for commercial appeal while failing to provide her with a meaningful character arc.
