For those unversed, the Indian state of Punjab endured its worst floods in over four decades this September. The flash floods hit over 1,400 villages, resulting in more than 30 fatalities and affecting 250,000–350,000 people. After the heartbreaking incidents, several celebrities came forward to extend support to the state.
When Diljit adopted Punjab villages
In a powerful gesture of solidarity, actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh adopted ten of the most severely affected villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar. His team, the Saanjh Foundation, is providing urgent essentials such as food, clean drinking water, medical supplies, and solar lights to villagers struggling amid the crisis. Long-term plans include rehabilitation and sustainable reconstruction.
He also thanked several authorities who came forward to help. Sharing a video, he said, “The situation in Punjab is very bad due to floods. People have lost their homes. Crops have been destroyed. Animals—cows, buffaloes—have died. People's lives have been ruined. Punjab is wounded, but not defeated. We have risen from the lap of Punjab. Punjab has adopted us. And we will die in the lap of Punjab. We want to tell all those who are suffering that we are with them.”
Diljit’s upcoming movies
On the work front, Diljit recently released his album Aura. His highly anticipated collaboration Kufar, which stars Manushi Chhillar is also out. He will next be seen in Border 2 alongside Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Sunny Deol. Apart from this, he was supposed to be a part of No Entry 2; however, he backed out of the film due to date issues. He is also reuniting with Imtiaz Ali for a love story.
