The Malayalam film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra created history by becoming the highest-grossing cinema at the Kerala box office. It also became the first Malayalam-language film to cross Rs 300 crore worldwide. Those who missed the film in theatres were eagerly awaiting its OTT release. It was earlier reported that the film will be landing on JioHotstar on October 20. However, the day came and went by without an update. But now the wait is over and the platform has announced the streaming date.

Lokah OTT release date

JioHotstar has announced that Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen-starrer Lokah will be released on the streaming platform on October 31. The film, which was made in Malayalam, will also be available in dubbed versions of Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu and Marathi. Backed by Dulquer Salmaan’s production house, the film is a superhero venture, part of a new universe being built in the Malayalam film industry. Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas appear in special roles, paving the way for future installments.

Generally, South Indian films release on OTT after a four-week window. However, the makers of Lokah decided to extend the OTT window as the film was shining at the box office. Despite clashing with Mohanlal's Hridayapoorvam and Fahadh Faasil's Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, Lokah did exceptionally well at the box office in Kerala and outside the state.

About Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra

Written and directed by Dominic Arun, the film features cinematography by Nimish Ravi and editing by Chaman Chacko. Music is composed by Jakes Bejoy, with action sequences choreographed by international action director Yannick Ben. Additional screenplay and dramaturgy are by Santhy Balachandran, and art direction by Jithu Sebastian.

About Lokah: Chapter 2

Following the success of Chapter 1, the makers announced the expansion of the Lokah universe. They recently released the first poster and a special glimpse of the sequel, Lokah Chapter 2: When Legends Chill – Michael and Charlie, bringing back Tovino Thomas as Michael and Dulquer Salmaan as Charlie. The teaser hints at a darker turn in the story, and Dominic Arun will continue as the director of the growing superhero saga.
