Pawan Kalyan in OG

Actor and politician Pawan Kalyan's film They Call Him OG was released in theatres on Thursday, September 25. The film opened to largely positive reviews, with fans of the star taking to the streets to celebrate its release. While most of his fans were seen celebrating in and around theatres, some did not have the best experience on release day. Bengaluru Police have filed an FIR against fans of the actor for organising an event ahead of the film's release without permission.

FIR against Pawan Kalyan fans

According to reports, on Wednesday, the Bangalore Pawan Kalyan Fans Association had planned stage celebrations outside Sandhya Theatre in Bengaluru's Madiwala without seeking permission. Reportedly, the police said that the organisers went ahead and erected a stage and set up a DJ system outside the venue. After the police received information about the event, they dismantled the arrangements made by the fan association.

"When we got to know, we immediately reached the spot, seized the loudspeakers on Wednesday, and asked the organisers to dismantle the stage," a police officer told news agency PTI. The event was also opposed by activists of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV), a local organisation.

OG box office collection

The film had a massive opening at the Indian and international box office. The film had special paid premieres in India on September 24, ahead of its global theatrical release. According to tracking website Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 20.25 crore nett (gross minus taxes) from the special premiere shows.

On Day 1, They Call Him OG recorded an estimated Rs 70-crore nett opening in India. This takes the total to Rs 90.25 crore nett at the domestic box office. If we include the collection from the international market, They Call Him OG would have crossed Rs 100 crore globally.

Pawan Kalyan-starrer They Call Him OG, directed by Sujeeth, boasts a powerful ensemble with Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Prakash Raj, and Sriya Reddy in key roles. Produced by DVV Danayya and Kalyan Dasari under the DVV Entertainment banner — the same powerhouse behind global phenomenon RRROG is already being hailed as the biggest cinematic event of 2025.

Cinematography for the film is by Ravi K. Chandran ISC and Manoj Paramahamsa ISC, and editing is by Navin Nooli. Titled after its cryptic lead, and carrying the tagline They Call Him OG, the film promises a full-blown assault of mass, mystique, and madness.

The film was originally slated to hit screens worldwide on September 27 last year. However, its release was delayed. Now, the film has finally hit screens almost a year later.
