Kamal Haasan yesterday denied issuing any statement on splitting with Gautami after a 13-year live-in relationship after an explanation attributed to him did the rounds of social media.

The veteran actor-filmmaker was quoted by a daily as saying, "Whatever gives her comfort and solace is fine by me. My feelings at the moment are of no importance. What matters is that Gautami and Subbu (her daughter from an earlier marriage) should be comfortable and happy."

Taking to Twitter, the veteran actor-filmmaker posted in Tamil, "At this point of time, I am not issuing any statement," he said, in an apparent reference to the split. "It is indecent that someone is playing by issuing a statement in my name."
