Santosh passes away

According to reports, Santosh Balaraj passed away in the ICU of a private hospital in Bengaluru at around 10 a.m. His sudden death has sent shockwaves among fans, as he was considered a promising star of the Kannada film industry.

Who was Santosh Balaraj?

Santosh was the son of popular film producer Anekal Balaraj, who produced the 2003 hit Kariya starring Darshan. However, the senior producer himself passed away in 2022 in a road accident. Since then, Santosh had been living with his mother until his death.

Santosh Balaraj’s rise to fame

He was part of the 2015 action thriller Ganapa, directed by Prabhu Srinivas, which earned him immense popularity. He was later seen in the Kannada film Kariya 2, a sequel to the 2003 hit starring Darshan. Both films were produced by his father, Anekal Balaraj.

The 2012 romantic drama film Olavine Ole, which was directed by Teshi Venkatesh, also earned much praise from the audience, especially for Santhosh's stunning acting. Olavine Ole featured Neha Patil in the female lead and the story revolved around the theme of honour killings. In the year 2013, Santhosh played the lead character Kanteerava in the film Janma. The film was directed by Chakravarthi. The movie received much praise for its plot, which revolves around Kanteerava who falls in love with Kaveri. The film's conflict arises when the families of the lead couple oppose their relationship.

During the release of his film Kariya 2 talking to Bangalore Mirror he had said, "When it comes to change in my career, Ganapa itself has changed me a lot. I received a lot of offers because of Ganapa success and now Kariya 2 is also in the same vein. People started approaching me with different kinds of stories. Not only me, the entire Kariya 2 team is expecting big success from the movie. When it comes to the title, even Darshan gave his 100 per cent and audience accepted him. In the same way, we have given our 100 per cent and the rest is left to audience."
