Malayalam film actor, mimicry artist and singer Kalabhavan Navas was found dead in his hotel in Chottanikkara, Kochi, on Friday, August 1, 2025, evening. According to PTI, the he was found dead when the staff of the hotel visited his room, where he was staying for a film shoot. The actor was believed to be 51 years at the time of his death.

After completing the shoot of Prakambanam on Friday, Navas reached his hotel room located in Chottanikkara to pack his belongings and return home. The actor, along with other stars, had been reportedly staying in the same hotel for the past 25 days. However, when other stars left the room, Navas was still missing for a long time. The reception staff called the phone in the room where he was staying, but he did not answer. When the hotel staff went to look for the actor in his room, they found the door open with Navas lying unconscious on the floor inside.



The hotel owner revealed that Nawaz was alive when he was taken to the hospital. However, he was later declared dead. His mortal remains are currently being kept at a private hospital SD Tata hospital in Chottanikkara. The Hindu reports Kalabhavan's post-mortem will take place at Kalamassery's Government Medical College Hospital on Saturday to confirm the cause of the death, following which his body will be handed over to his family. 

As per the police, they found nothing suspicious in his room and are claiming that he suffered a cardiac arrest. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled his death.

Who was Kalabhavan Navas?

Kalabhavan Navas was known as a versatile entertainer, who earned widespread fame as a mimicry artist, playback singer and actor in Malayalam cinema. He debuted in the films as an actor in the feature film Chaithanyam, released in 1995. After that, he featured in several films and television serials, including Mimics Action 500 (1995), Hitler Brothers (1997), Junior Mandrake (1997), Mattupetti Machan and Amma Ammaayiyamma (1998), Chandamama (1999), and Thillana Thillana (2003).

Kalabhavan was also seen in Chakkara Muthu (2006), Chattambinadu (2009), Senior Mandrake and Valiyangadi (2010), Veeraputhran (2011), Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty (2012), ABCD: American-Born Confused Desi (2013), John Honai (2015), Mera Naam Shaji (2019), among many others. Navas was also seen as a judge in reality shows such as Comedy Masters, Comedy Stars Season 2, and Thakarppan Comedy.
