Veteran Marathi actor Ashok Saraf was honoured with the Padma Shri by President Droupadi Murmu for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. The veteran star attended the ceremony, where he received the prestigious honour from the President of the country. After this special milestone in his career, he took to social media to express heartfelt gratitude. He penned a special post, stating that it was a significant moment in his life.

While thanking the Maharashtra government, his family, co-stars, and fans, he wrote in Marathi: “The Padma Shri honour is a special moment in my life. I thank the Maharashtra Government. Thank you to my family, colleagues, and audience — this wouldn’t have been possible without your love. Let your love and blessings remain the same forever.”


As soon as he shared the post, his colleagues from the industry began pouring in congratulatory messages. “Sirrrr🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 such a proud moment for all of us,” commented Amruta Khanvilkar. “The proudest and happiest moment for all of Maharashtra…” wrote Supriya Pilgaonkar.

Several of his fans also shared congratulatory messages. One said, “Sundays and Ashok Mama's movies... an inseparable part of our childhood. Our early years were enriched by your and Lakshya uncle's acting. Very proud.” Another commented, “Wow Ashok Saraf 👏... Maharashtra's pride has grown. Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations!” A third fan wrote, “I grew up watching Ashok Mama’s films... and today, he has been honoured with the Padma Shri award. Life feels fulfilled. I truly wish to meet this incredibly talented artist at least once. Ashok Mama, I bow down to your artistry.”

Before receiving the award, Ashok Saraf greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, President Droupadi Murmu, and other dignitaries at the ceremony — a gesture that won widespread appreciation. Affectionately known as "Mama," Saraf was born in Mumbai in 1947 and began his acting journey in 1969.
