Navya Nair is one of the most prominent actresses in Malayalam cinema, having made her debut in 2001 with Ishtam. She has since featured in films like Nandanam, Pandippada, Chathikkatha Chanthu, Vellithira, Saira, and many others. After taking a brief break from films to focus on her family life, she is now gearing up for the release of Pathirathri, directed by Ratheena. Also starring Ann Augustine, Sunny Wayne, Athmiya Rajan, Sabareesh Varma, Harisree Ashokan, Achyuth Kumar, Indrans, and Thejas, the film is written by Shaji Maraad. It features cinematography by Shehnad Jalal, music by Jakes Bejoy, and editing by Sreejith Sarang. The film is set to release on October 17.

Navya Nair’s recent news

Recently, the actress made headlines for being fined at the Melbourne airport for carrying jasmine flowers. While attending an event in Melbourne, Navya revealed she was fined AUD 1,980 (approximately Rs 1.14 lakh) at Melbourne International Airport for carrying a 15 cm jasmine gajra in her handbag. The incident occurred when she arrived in Melbourne to participate in the Onam celebrations organised by the Malayali Association of Victoria.

Recalling the experience during a public event, she shared that her father had bought her the gajra before the journey and divided it into two parts — one to wear during her Kochi-Singapore flight and the other to use later. She admitted, “What I did was against the law. It was a mistake I made unknowingly. However, ignorance is no excuse. For carrying a 15 cm jasmine string, officials asked me to pay a fine of AUD 1,980 within 28 days. A mistake is a mistake, though it was not intentional.”
